More like a small rose than a classic jasmine, Grand Duke Cosimo III had a special greenhouse built, and banned its cultivation throughout the kingdom. Only ducal botanists were allowed to perpetuate the variety in the ‘Stufa dei Mugherini’, the warm jasmine greenhouse in the Villa Medicea di Castello, which can still be visited today.
